Pool Rules for Patrons
PARKVIEW POOL RULES FOR POOL PATRONS
Pool rules, policies, and procedures are subject to change.
This is a family facility owned and operated by Mayfield Village. Loud, obscene or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Persons creating a disturbance or otherwise being a nuisance to the staff or other patrons of Parkview Pool will be asked to leave and/or may be subject to arrest. Mayfield Village reserves the right to revoke, temporarily or permanently, the pool privileges of anyone creating a disturbance at Parkview Pool.
- Proper identification for any pass or single admission purchase must be shown. The identification must show a picture and proper address (Village, Mayfield School District, Progressive). If no ID is shown, an Out of District General admission may be purchased.
- Parkview Pool management reserves the right to limited the number of daily admissions and guest passes.
- Children 4 and under are free. All other persons entering Parkview Pool must pay the appropriate admission fee, regardless if the person is swimming or not.
- Parkview Pool Passes may be purchased by residents of Mayfield School District which is comprised of Gates Mills, Highland Heights Mayfield Heights and Mayfield Village. Progressive Insurance employees may also purchase individual or family passes. Individuals that work in Mayfield Village are eligible to purchase Individual passes after following the proper guidelines.
- Household passes are available. A household consists of all members who are permanent, year round, residents at the same address. Proof of residency is required. Pricing of household vary based on size of household.
- Only Parkview Pool season pass holders or Mayfield Village Residents (proper ID must be presented) may purchase guest admissions. Management reserves the right to limit the number of guests. Pass holders are responsible for the behavior of their guests. Passholders/Residents must be present for entry of guests. Passholders/Residents must remain on premises or sign in guests and leave a contact information.
- Patrons and guests failing to comply with pool rules and/or facility staff directions will be subject to admission/membership privileges being revoked, without refund.
- Children 12 years and younger must have an adult (18+) on premises.
- No smoking, eating, or chewing gum is permitted in the locker room. No smoking is permitted ANYWHERE on pool property except in the designated smoking area outside at a picnic table on the north end of the parking lot.
- The use of cell phone or other electronic devices are prohibited within the locker rooms or restrooms
- It is strongly encouraged that patrons shower before using the pool.
- Patrons with open sores or other visible skin problems will not be permitted to use the pool facilities. In cases of eczema or other non-contagious skin eruptions, a written statement from the physician is required.
- Unruly conduct will not be tolerated within the pool facility.
- Waiting or loitering in the entrance or dressing area is not permitted.
- Glass is not permitted in the pool or locker room areas.
- Taking photos/videos in restrooms/locker rooms is prohibited.
- Taking photos/videos of minors without parental permission is prohibited.
- Taking photo/videos of Parkview staff without permission is prohibited.
- Parkview Pool and Mayfield Village Staff reserve the right to question anyone taking photos/videos with in the facility.
Facility Safety Rules
Any acts that could be a threat to the safety and welfare of pool patrons and guests or in any way interfere with the proper operation of the pool will be subject to admission/membership privileges being revoked, without refund.
Supervision Guidelines
Age 5 & under: Adult must be in the water within an arm’s reach at all times.
Age 6-9: Must be accompanied by an adult IN the pool. After passing swim test, an adult must remain in the pool area.
Age 10-12: Allowed only in the shallow water until swim test is passed. An adult must remain in the pool area.
Age 13-17: Deep water swim test is highly recommended. Lifeguards, at their discretion can require a swim test.
- Behaviors deemed unsafe by management and/or lifeguard staff are not permitted.
- Follow lifeguard directions. All unsafe behavior, as determined by the lifeguard, is prohibited.
- AT THE SOUND OF AN AIR HORN, PLEASE EXIT THE WATER. THE AIR HORN INDICATES AN EMERGENCY IS TAKING PLACE.
- Parents/Adult in charge are ultimately responsible for the safety of the children in their care.
- Walk at all times.
- No Hypoxic training is allowed. (Hyperventilating and holding one’s breath under water).
- Diving only permitted in the Diving Well.
- Deep water swim test required for ages 12 and under. Lifeguards, at their discretion can request a patron to take a swim competency test.
- You must be 48 inches tall to use the slide. A swim test is highly recommended. Lifeguards, at their discretion can require a swim test.
- Lap lanes are reserved for adult lap swimmers. Children under the age of 18 must get permission from Pool management/lifeguards. During busy times swimmers may be asked to share lanes.
- Diving is only permitted in the diving well.
- Children 5 and under are permitted in the infant (frog feature)area. An adult (18+) must be at the pool side at all times their child is in the infant area. All children must exit the infant area during rest breaks.
- Appropriate swim attire required.
- All patrons ages 17 and under must exit the pool at rest period.
- Swim diapers required for children who are not toilet trained.
- Only properly fitting Coast Guard approved flotation devices allowed. No Inflatables permitted.
- Goggles may be used by all patrons. Scuba style masks that cover the nose and snorkels are not permitted except in the lap lanes for lap swimming.
- Non-breakable containers only. NO GLASS.
- Parkview Pool is a no smoking facility.
- No Alcoholic beverages permitted. Persons under the influence of intoxicants will not be admitted or permitted to remain on premises.
- Please place all personal items in a locked locker. Mayfield Village Parks & Recreation, Parkview Pool Staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Please be courteous and respectful of others. Vulgar or offensive language or gestures will not be tolerated.
- There is zero tolerance for any physical or verbal abuse and for demeaning behavior toward our staff and patrons.

- To use the slide a person must be 48 inches tall.
- No goggles, glasses, flotation devices permitted on the slide.
- You are. to lie on your back the entire trip down the slide with arms crossed.
- Placing/sticking any items to the inside of the slide is dangerous and prohibited.
- One person on the slide at a time.
- No stopping or leaving items in/on the slide chute.
- Wait for the slide attendant’s permission to go.
- Immediately Exit the bottom of the slide, via the nearest ladder.
- Rest/Safety Breaks are on the top of the hour and are 15 minutes in duration.
- It is recommended during breaks, sunscreen is reapplied, liquids are consumed and children use the restrooms.
- At the announcement of rest period, all swimmers under 18 years old (including children in the infant area) must leave the water immediately and remain out of the pool including the gutter, until it is announced that the pool is again open.
- Adults may swim during this break.
Deep water competency test consists of:
- Jumping feet first into 6+ water
- Tread water for 20 seconds
- Without touching wall or lane line, level and swim on stomach for 15-20 yards
- Exit pool using ladder
Upon passing the swim test, the swimmer’s name will be entered into the swim test binder and will receive a wrist band. If a swimmer does not successfully complete the competency test it can be retaken 24 hours later.
